Reason TV: The Case Against College Entitlements

Published by Manarin Investment Counsel at 3:13 pm under Education

If Washington takes away the financial responsibility of going to college, it will take people 8 years to get a 4-year degree, or worse. Then it won’t be fair that only 50% get through, so they will have to devalue the degree so everyone can have one and it won’t mean anything anymore.

Doesn’t this sound a bit too much like the subprime mortgage mess…”making college affordable for everybody.”

Whatever happened to personal responsibility and individual initiative? Dumb down the standards and the whole system is less for it. Instead we should be making a college education something to strive for and work hard to achieve a degree.

In a vain attempt to help, government once again puts forth the recipe for failure.
